30 Day Speeding Ticket Frenzy

New Jersey will launch a 30 day speeding ticket frenzy. The state estimates that 9 million dollars will be generated in speeding tickets. 1 million will go to pay state troopers over time. There will 50 state troopers on duty at all times patrolling the 9 main intersections and highways. They are the following:

I-295 north and south
1-95 (Jersey Turnpike) north and south
1-80 east and west
I-287 north and south
I-78 east and west
I-195 east and west
1-280 east and west
Rt. 130 north and south
Garden State Parkway north and south

Warning for everyone: Now 5 mph above the limit can justify a ticket and every state trooper is supposed to pull a car over and write a ticket every 10 minutes. They have issued 30 brand new unmarked Crown Victoria cruisers and they are bringing in all their part timers on full time. If you work in New Jersey, New York, or CT, you must take one of there interstates, routes, or parkways. So be safe and don't forget speeding tickets are on you.

So when exactly is this supposed to start? August or now? Also, where did you get this info from?

Its been going around several of my cat rescue/transport lists.
I think it started a week ago, so we are 3 weeks away from the finale, if at all, remember there is a quota too

Well, I have been noticing a lot more troopers on the roads lately (go figure... I take 78 and 287 twice a day to and from work).

yeah i started to notice that about 2-3 weeks ago. I stay in the MIDDLE lane and let the speeds on the left do what they want and the others on the right be closer to the troopers. Its not impossible but its harder to get to someone in the middle lane when there are other cars around it and its alot easier to catch a speeder in the far left or right lane and clock them speeding.

As far as I am concerned this is non-existant. I haven't noticed an increase or decrease in troopers on the road... and I live where 3,46,23,287,80, and a few others all converge.

well I have noticed, when I went to the CFA cat show on the 17th (sunday), i saw 7 cop cars that have pulled people over from exit 3 to exit 10. Also when i went Omni last thursday, i saw 3 on the way up and 2 on the way to the bridge.

I have to agree with J... Rich, it may not be a, late at night, or b, where all those roads meet, or c, you are just avoiding them , but I have seen a LOT more activity during more traditional commuting hours than I am used to.

For example, last week on the way to work, I saw 5 troopers lined up with people pulled over in about a 1/4 mile stretch... I don't think there are usually more than 2 or 3 troopers on for that 30 mile stretch of 78, much less 5...

I work perfectly normal hours for a Company that operates 24 hrs a day.

Yes, you do, no doubt... But if they want to effienently catch speeders they probably do it between 4:30pm and 6pm and 8am to 10am...

Speaking of which, 5 cop cars again this morning...
